The Greater Port Arthur Chamber of Commerce honored Sempra LNG & Midstream at its 119th annual banquet Wednesday night with an Economic Impact Award for the Port Arthur LNG export project and the economic boost it will create in the region.
“It is an honor to be recognized by the Port Arthur community for the advancements we’ve made on our Port Arthur LNG project,’ said Marvin Ivey, senior project developer for Sempra LNG & Midstream. “The leadership and support we enjoy from the city of Port Arthur, Jefferson County and the citizens has made a positive impact on our project in the global LNG community.”
Last month, Port Arthur and the Polish Oil & Gas Company signed a definitive 20-year sale-and-purchase agreement for liquefied natural gas from the Port Arthur LNG as part of Sempra Energy’s long-term goal of exporting 45 million tonnes per annum of North American LNG.
Outgoing Chamber Chairman Jeff Hayes praised Port Arthur LNG for its commitment to the community and making long term investments that will create jobs and support local businesses in the area.
“The Chamber is and will continue to be active supporters of LNG,” added Marvin. “They understand and appreciate the investment being made by companies like ours in this region.”
