Port Arthur LNG and the United Board of Missions partnered to launch a community emergency preparedness initiative designed to support Sabine Pass families. Led by the United Board of Missions, the program provided eligible households with a portable backup generator, reinforcing our shared commitment to safety, resilience and long-term support along the Texas Gulf Coast. Local vendor Gopher Industrial played a key role in the effort by coordinating distribution and home deliveries, helping ensure every generator reached its intended household safely.
More than 100 eligible Sabine Pass households received an 8000E Generac generator through the program, helping families better prepare for hurricane season and unexpected power outages. The United Board of Missions and Port Arthur LNG organized two community distribution events at the Sabine Pass Community Center for residents to pick up their generators.
The generators will provide a dependable source of backup power that can support essential household needs during emergencies, giving residents greater peace of mind when severe weather threatens the Gulf Coast. The units provided are equipped with key safety and performance features. Each unit includes a 420cc OHV 4-stroke engine, electric start capability, covered GFCI-protected outlets and COsense Technology which automatically shuts down the generator if elevated carbon monoxide levels are detected. With a fuel tank capacity of 7.9 gallons, the generators can run up to 10 hours at 50 percent load or 15 hours at 25 percent load, offering families reliable power during extended outages. Low-oil shutdown adds another layer of protection, helping prevent engine damage and supporting long-term durability.

Port Arthur LNG’s investment in Sabine Pass is part of a broader commitment to strengthening the region. The Port Arthur LNG Phase 1 project continues to advance through commissioning as the facility prepares for the startup of Train 1 in the first quarter of 2027. Combined, Port Arthur LNG Phases 1 and 2 represent a $25 billion investment in American energy infrastructure, creating thousands of jobs, supporting local businesses and driving long-term growth for Southeast Texas communities. Since 2015, Sempra Infrastructure has invested more than $5 million in nonprofits, schools and community-based organizations in Jefferson County.
