Port Arthur LNG

Port Arthur LNG North

The proposed Port Arthur LNG North project involves the permitting and possible construction and operation of a potential four-train expansion of the Port Arthur LNG facility.

Project Details

The proposed Port Arthur LNG North Project represents a multibillion-dollar infrastructure investment that is anticipated to strengthen both the national, state and local regional economies by increasing access to U.S. natural gas, supporting local manufacturing, expanding employment opportunities and creating new business for small to mid-sized suppliers across Southeast Texas. The proposed project has the potential to generate broader economic activity for the many businesses that serve our community every day. Hotels, gas stations, restaurants and local retailers could all see increased activity, helping sustain growth for the businesses and workers who call this region home.

Energy for Tomorrow, Opportunity for Southeast Texas

In addition to supporting economic growth, the company is committed to investing in the local community through transformational social investments. Since 2015, Sempra Infrastructure has invested more than $5 million in nonprofits, schools and community-based organizations in Jefferson County, Texas, and expects total social investments associated with the Port Arthur LNG Phase 1 and Phase 2 projects to reach approximately $20 million by 2030.

Building on this commitment, and contingent upon the project’s continued development, the proposed Port Arthur LNG North project is expected to invest an additional $4.8 million in social investments by 2034, further strengthening local institutions and expanding opportunity for Southeast Texas communities.

Project Schedule

Construction of the proposed project is planned to commence as Port Arthur LNG Phase 2 transitions into operations. By beginning construction as Port Arthur LNG Phase 2 reaches commercial operations, the proposed project would rely on the experienced construction workforce already on site. This approach provides a smooth transition for those workers and supports continued job duration, while avoiding an increase in the number of construction workers at the property. This approach maintains continuity in the number of workers on the property and would help mitigate construction traffic to support the needs of the community.
