In a recent interview with the San Diego Union-Tribune, Jeffrey Martin, CEO of Sempra Energy, said, “I think there’s an opportunity for what I’ve referred to as an Apollo mission around liquefied natural gas (LNG).”
“We’ve gone from being an energy dependent country to being energy independent and I think we have the opportunity now to become much more energy dominant on the global stage,” added Martin.
Martin visited the White House in early October to discuss the growing LNG industry and how LNG can help reduce the nation’s trade imbalance and accelerate the economy. Through projects like Sempra Energy’s Cameron LNG facility and proposed Port Arthur LNG facility, the U.S. also can contribute to cleaner air in both developing and industrial nations, and create more American jobs.
