Food insecurity affects thousands of families across Southeast Texas, impacting students, seniors and working parents alike. At Port Arthur LNG, we believe that access to nutritious food is foundational to a strong and resilient community. In 2025, our team put more than $383K toward social investment efforts that helped stabilize food access, support local families and strengthen the region’s hunger‑relief network.
Fueling Students Beyond the School Week
One of the cornerstone initiatives of this investment is the Backpack Program, delivered in collaboration with the Southeast Texas Food Bank. Launched in fall 2025, the program ensures that students in Sabine Pass ISD and Port Arthur ISD have reliable access to nutritious meals outside of the school week, when food insecurity often hits hardest.
Through our $133K investment, the program supports approximately 700 students. Each Friday, qualifying students receive a backpack filled with meals, snacks and beverages to carry them throughout the weekend. This consistent support helps reduce weekend hunger, reinforces academic readiness and promotes overall student health and well-being.
By December 2025, the program had delivered 58K meals over 21 weeks, demonstrating strong implementation capacity and sustained impact. The program will continue through May 2026 for the remainder of the school year, ensuring students have the nutrition they need to succeed.
Teamwork That Fights Hunger Across Southeast Texas
Our commitment to fighting hunger extends far beyond financial investments. Last September, during Hunger Action Month, Port Arthur LNG employees came together with a shared purpose.
What started as a volunteer event grew into a strong display of teamwork and compassion. Thirty employees stepped forward to serve their neighbors, preparing and distributing more than 200 hot meals and collecting 600 jars of peanut butter and jelly to help stock the shelves at Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas.
To build momentum, our operations and engineering and construction teams launched a friendly competition to raise funds for supplies. The challenge brought out the best in both groups. In less than a week, the teams raised a combined $3K to support the effort.
Through hands-on service and world-class attitudes, our employees showed what it means to show up for our community. Their dedication reflects the heart of our culture and our commitment to make a difference.
Rapid Response During a Critical Moment
Last fall, when the community faced a surge in food insecurity, Port Arthur LNG and Sempra Infrastructure mobilized quickly to help stabilize food access.
We deployed $250K in emergency grant funding to the Southeast Texas Food Bank which enabled the food bank to secure multiple truckloads of emergency food boxes and tray pack kits, working hand in hand with community pantries to meet urgent demand across Jefferson County and beyond.
“We are grateful for Port Arthur LNG’s quick support that helped families last fall. We are fortunate to have strong partnerships and a community that steps up when it matters,” said Harvey Zernial, president and CEO of the Southeast Texas Food Bank.
Together, We Make a Difference
This past year showed the power of collaboration and the difference it can make for families across Southeast Texas. We invite local organizations and community groups to connect with us through our partnership, community grant and sponsorship programs as we continue supporting meaningful work throughout the region.
