The Port Arthur LNG team spread fin-tastic fun at this year’s Kids Fish event at Sea Rim State Park, located just south of the future site of Port Arthur LNG!
With support from sponsors like Port Arthur LNG, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department organizes the annual free shore fishing event for children to encourage outdoor recreation and conservation.
“Events like kids fish help inspire environmental stewardship in the community and gets families to experience the joy of outdoor activities in their own backyard,” said Kelly Prasser, external affairs manager for Port Arthur LNG. “By partnering on opportunities like these, we also help further Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s education and conservation efforts in local communities like Sabine Pass.”
Over 50 Sempra LNG employees and their families helped make kids fish a splash! Volunteers handed out 200 free fishing rods, reels, tackle and bait, helped fix poles and tangled fishing lines, bait hooks, and assisted kids measuring and releasing fish for the tournament. Prizes were awarded for the largest catch in different age groups.
This was a first-time fishing experience for many attendees. More than 680 community members attended this year’s event, making it a record-setting year for Texas Parks and Wildlife.
